Bounds Green est une station du métro de Londres sur la "Picadilly Line". Pendant la seconde guerre mondiale, plus précisément dans la nuit du 13 octobre 1940, cette station a été bombardée par l'aviation allemande. Seize personnes trouvèrent la mort dans ce bombardement, tandis que vingt autres furent blessées. Une victime succomba le lendemain à l'hôpital. En 1994, une plaque à la mémoire des victimes a été installée, laquelle précise que seize réfugiés belges et trois britanniques ont trouvé la mort dans ce bombardement. Selon les archives, le nombre total des victimes est de seize, dont trois seulement d'origine belge (Source [25]).

Bounds Green is een station van de metro van Londen aan de Piccadilly Line. Tijdens de tweede wereldoorlog is het station op 13 oktober 1940 gebombardeerd door Duitse bommenwerpers. Hierbij vielen 16 doden en ongeveer 20 gewonden. Één slachtoffer overleed de volgende dag in het ziekenhuis. In 1994 is voor de slachtoffers een herinneringsplaquette opgehangen, hierop staat dat er 16 belgische vluchtelingen en 3 britten overleden. Volgens de archieven zijn er echter in totaal 16 doden gevallen waarvan 3 van Belgische afkomst (Bron [25]).

Bounds Green tube station is a London Underground station. On the night of 13 October 1940, a lone German aircraft dropped a single bomb on houses to the north of the station. The destruction of the houses caused the north end of the westbound platform tunnel to collapse, killing or injuring many people amongst those sheltering from the air raid. The train service was disrupted for two months. A memorial plaque (at the north end of the westbound platform) erroneously commemorates "sixteen Belgian refugees and... three British citizens who died" in the attack. The records of the civilian deaths held by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission indicate that in fact sixteen people died at the scene - only three of whom were Belgian - with a seventeenth dying in hospital the following day. Approximately twenty people were injured, but survived (Source [25]).
